The experiment continues

I've been jumping around a bit.  I've gone from Blogger to Tumblr, and now to Posterous.  I figure the best way to really try out these new services is to live in them a bit.

So far my impressions are that Blogger is a great blog platform, but it feels a little dated and bulky for my needs.

Tumblr is fun and looks great, but I don't see it as a game-changer.  It also is a bit limited in that comments and tags are not built-in features, though you can get them to work.

Posterous intrigues me because it takes a very different approach to blogging in that it's based on email.  Plus, they seem to be adding functionality at a nice clip.

Only time will tell, though... there are a lot of services out there to explore.

We think one of our big strengths is our handling of rich media. Send us 50 photos, a video, an mp3, and a youtube link. No matter what you send us, we'll do all the work and make it look great.

Agreed. That functionality is definitely one of the draws of Posterous.

I'd like to see theming support (I realize this is coming), a better way to handle non-temporal content (favorite links, static headers, etc), and an export feature. Those items would make Posterous practically ideal.

I should add that my experience in setting up the microblog here at Posterous was far better than my initial impression even suggested. So far I'm very pleased.
